Job summary

Patient First is seeking a Laboratory Technologist/Technician to supervise lab personnel, ensure quality test results, and maintain documentation and training programs. The role emphasizes safety, proficiency testing, and smooth operation of laboratory equipment across centers.

The ideal candidate holds a Medical Technology-related degree with HEW certification and strong supervisory experience, ready to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Employee must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum typing experience required.
• At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science; HEW certification; plus six years of laboratory experience for incumbents in PA/NJ.
• Must have thorough knowledge of Medical Technology principles and methodologies.
• Knowledge of math and statistics to analyze data.
• Ability to use and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive under pressure.
• CPR ability and recertification as needed.
• Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods.
• Lift 20–50 lbs.
• Strong communication skills (oral, written, and typed).
• Understanding of work as Technologist/Technician as described.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations and reporting issues to the Technical Consultant.
• Ensuring remedial actions when test systems deviate from specs.
• Assuring proficiency testing is performed timely.
• Supervising laboratory personnel to meet quality standards and procedures.
• Ensuring patient test results are reported only when systems function properly.
• Submitting staffing schedules and approving payroll.
• Providing lab orientation and training to testing personnel.
• Assisting in interviewing and on-site training of lab staff.
• Evaluating competency and performance of testing personnel.
