About the Satija Lab

Dr. Satija’s lab studies the causes and consequences of cellular heterogeneity in complex biological systems. His group is particularly interested in single cell genomics, with active development in both the dry and wet lab. The lab integrates novel statistical and machine learning‑based methods with experimental analysis to better understand how cells work together to drive biological processes and behaviors.

Position Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Lab Manager to join the Satija Lab. This is a key operational role responsible for ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day functioning of the laboratory. The Lab Manager will oversee lab administration, equipment, consumables, safety compliance, and onboarding, and will serve as the central point of contact for operational and logistical needs across the team. The successful candidate will work with mammalian and invertebrate based model systems in combination with next generation sequencing and CRISPR technology and will work closely with other scientists in the lab. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the growing space of single cell genomics while contributing to new research in cancer immunology and developmental neuroscience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day lab operations, ensuring an organized, well‑maintained, and efficient working environment
  • Manage ordering and inventory of reagents, consumables, and equipment, and maintain relationships with vendors
  • Track and manage lab budgets for supplies, equipment, and service contracts in coordination with the PI and NYGC administration
  • Maintain and organize lab databases, shared drives, and documentation including protocols, SOPs, and regulatory records
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, and service contracts; troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with core facilities

Requirements & Qualifications
  • B.Sc or M.Sc in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or related fields
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience with lab inventory management, vendor relations, and procurement
  • Familiarity with the Illumina sequencing platform preferred
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry techniques preferred
  • Ability and experience to work independently, and to train others in laboratory techniques

Salary & Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
