Job summary

Apple in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Lab Manager to run and optimize lab operations, keep equipment calibrated, and support engineering programs. The role starts as a technical IC and can grow into a leadership position, mentoring lab technicians and coordinating with facilities and EHS teams.

You will own asset tracking, safety compliance, and lab process improvements while partnering with engineering and procurement to enable fast, safe experimentation and development of prototype hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in a technical, R&D or hardware lab environment with tests and equipment operation.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, calibration procedures, and asset management systems.
• Experience with lab safety standards, hazardous materials handling, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex lab equipment in support of test plans.
• Run test protocols, collect data, and support hardware engineering programs.
• Act as technical escalation point for complex equipment issues.
• Design, build, and implement new test fixtures and lab processes.
• Manage daily lab operations including inventory, maintenance, and calibration.
• Own procurement, vendor relationships, and budget tracking for lab needs.
• Enforce lab safety protocols in alignment with EHS and Apple policies.
