Apple is seeking a Lab Manager to lead a small team of lab technicians and coordinators in Cupertino. You will balance people leadership with hands-on technical ownership, running experiments, operating equipment, and supporting engineering programs.

The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and proactive process improvements in a world-class hardware lab. You'll oversee lab operations, procurement, budgeting, and vendor relationships while maintaining strict asset and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 5+ years of industry lab experience
• 3+ years of hands-on lab experience with tests and equipment
• 1+ year of leadership, mentoring, or managing a team
• Strong lab safety knowledge and regulatory compliance
• Experience with equipment maintenance and calibration procedures

Responsibilities

• Hire, manage, mentor, and develop a small team of lab technicians/coordinators
• Set priorities, assign work, and review team output for quality
• Conduct performance reviews and career development conversations
• Foster safety, accountability, and continuous improvement in the lab
• Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment for test plans
• Execute test protocols, collect data, and support engineering programs
• Serve as escalation point for complex equipment issues
• Design and build test fixtures, setups, or lab processes
• Manage daily lab operations, inventory, maintenance, calibration, and repair coordination
• Oversee procurement, vendor relationships, and budget tracking
• Develop and enforce lab safety protocols per EHS and Apple policies
• Plan lab layouts, allocate space/resources, support new equipment installations
• Maintain asset tracking records and regulatory documentation
• Manage access control and confidentiality for prototype hardware
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
• Coordinate cross-functional logistics with engineering, facilities, EHS, and supply chain
