Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a full-time Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1 to lead the Chemistry & Immunology lab. You will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and drive quality control and performance improvement initiatives.

The role requires a BS in Medical Technology or related field, NYS licensure, and 4+ years in chemistry and immunology labs; ASCP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or related field is required.
• New York State Laboratory Technologist Licensure required.
• 4+ years of experience in Chemistry and Immunology laboratories.
• ASCP Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Assistant Supervisor, responsible for the operations of the laboratory.
• Maintains compliance with departmental, hospital, and all regulatory requirements.
• Be in charge and responsible for the operation of the laboratory, and perform day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, and performance improvement activities.
• Ensure timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
• Trains personnel in technical methodology and interpretation of results.
• Record and archive test and QC results.
• Maintain inventory and statistics.
• Determine the need to rotate staff or assign staff additional duties in order to maintain work flow smoothly; schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
• Assistant in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.
• Demonstrate flexibility as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description; perform other job-related duties as business needs warrant and/or are necessary.
