Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1 in Chemistry and Immunology. The role oversees lab operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads QC and testing across chemistry and immunology.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, coordinate administrative tasks, and maintain inventory while ensuring timely testing and data integrity within a metropolitan medical center.

Qualifications

• New York State CLT license required.
• Bachelor of Science degree with 6+ years of experience, including 2+ years supervisory/administrative capacity.
• ASCP certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital and regulatory requirements.
• Function as Assistant Supervisor responsible for the operation of a laboratory.
• Oversee day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, performance improvement activities.
• Performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by the chemistry and immunology labs.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on chemistry and immunology instruments.
• Assure timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
• Train personnel in technical methodologist and interpretation of result.
• Record and archive operation test and QC results.
• Maintain inventory and statistics.
• Schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
• Assist in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.
• Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job‑related tasks as needed/required, as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description.
