Job summary

Ohio University is seeking a Lab Management Specialist to establish and monitor laboratory policies, support ongoing research, and ensure safe, compliant lab operations. The role will involve fabricating and operating complex lab equipment, analyzing results, and potentially instructing students in techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, evaluating data, and coordinating with faculty and graduate researchers to facilitate projects in Chemistry and Biochemistry labs

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in science/technical field required.
• Minimum of 2 years of laboratory and/or research support experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable.
• Specific knowledge, certifications, and licensure apply at the position level.

Responsibilities

• Establishes, implements, and monitors laboratory policies and procedures; ensures lab operations are efficient and compliant.
• Provides technical lab support for faculty and graduate students on research projects.
• Applies expert knowledge of equipment construction and troubleshooting.
• Involves fabrication, machining, and other complex lab methods and equipment functions.
• Performs tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
• Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions.
• Evaluates experiment results using statistical analysis.
• May instruct a laboratory section in research techniques and instruments.
