Job summary

Extremenetworks in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking a Lab Network Engineer Intern to learn routing and switching protocols using multi-layer Ethernet switches. The role involves setting up networking equipment for Technical Support Engineers and assisting with lab operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Learn Extreme Networks products, routing and switching protocols, and lab operations.
  • Set up networking equipment for Technical Support Engineers (TSEs) to use for customer support.
  • Partner with TSEs to help replicate customers’ network issues.
  • Assist with lab operations, including racking, cabling, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare to become a Technical Support Engineer or Network Engineer.

Skills

Basic networking knowledge including Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSI model, routing and switching
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience in a service-oriented position
Passion and aptitude for learning technology and solving problems

Education

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a computer or networking related field

Tools

Experience working with routers and switches in a lab environment or technical support position
Knowledge of servers and virtualization (VMware, Linux, Microsoft)
Knowledge of scripting language(s)
