In This Role, You Will

• Perform drawing, processing, and handling of specimens accurately, efficiently, and timely.
• Ensure blood draw orders are executed properly by the Medical Assistant team.
• Monitor the integrity of patient specimen collection processes.
• Keep Lab Leadership informed of laboratory, phlebotomy, and personnel issues.
• Perform laboratory tests (CBC, urine dipstick, PT/INR, glucose, etc.) accurately, including instrument maintenance, QC, calibration, and proficiency testing.
• Update manuals and procedures as needed.
• Maintain accurate and legible records, including temperatures.
• Manage supplies and equipment inventory properly.
• Observe chemical hygiene and lab safety procedures.
• Research reference lab specimen requirements.
• Arrange for critical specimen handling and transportation.
• Orient and train new Medical Assistants, documenting training.
• Enforce safety rules and report hazards.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and inform support and leadership of issues.
• Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology.
• New York State Laboratory Technician license.
• Experience preferred but not required.
