Job summary

The Lab Assistant within the Media Department at Certified Group supports analytical testing by preparing, sterilizing, and organizing media and reagents used for food, ingredient, and environmental samples. This role ensures sterile materials are available to testing operations while upholding safety and ISO 17025-like quality practices.

The position requires a high school diploma, familiarity with aseptic techniques, and experience with autoclaves; the schedule is Tuesday–Saturday,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Familiarity with aseptic sampling techniques.
• Experience operating autoclaves and sterile dispensing equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of testing laboratory practices and general laboratory procedures.
• 1+ years of experience in a commercial food-testing laboratory preferred.
• Competency with LIMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain bacteriological media and chemical solutions.
• Safely operate an autoclave to sterilize media, reagents, and supplies.
• Label, handle, store, use, and dispose of media and solutions per safety guidelines.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of prepared media and supplies.
• Collaborate with other departments to prepare required media promptly.
• Perform work neatly, safely, hygienically, and efficiently; maintain clean equipment.
• Follow FSNS policies, procedures, and media operations manual.
• Maintain laboratory conditions, equipment, supplies, QA programs, and accurate records.
• Share information openly to support team collaboration.
• Complete required training and comply with safety and quality programs.
