Job summary

Certified Group is seeking a Sanitation & Waste Disposal Lab Assistant in the Media Department to prepare, sterilize, and organize media and reagents for analytical testing of foods, ingredients, and environmental samples. You will ensure sterile materials are available to support testing operations and uphold safety and quality standards.

The role involves autoclave operations, accurate media handling, and collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Familiarity with aseptic sampling techniques preferred.
• Experience operating autoclaves and sterile dispensing equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of testing laboratory practices and procedures.
• 1+ year in a commercial food-testing lab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain bacteriological media and chemical solutions.
• Safely operate an autoclave to sterilize media, reagents, and supplies.
• Label, handle, store, use, and dispose of media and solutions per safety guidelines.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of prepared media and supplies.
• Collaborate with other departments to prepare media in a timely manner.
• Work neatly, safely, hygienically, and efficiently while keeping equipment clean.
• Follow FSNS policies, procedures, and media operations manual.
• Maintain laboratory conditions, records, and QA programs.
• Share information openly to support teamwork.
• Complete required training and comply with safety programs.
