Job summary

Hennessy Research Associates, a Kemin company, is seeking a Technical Operator focused on media preparation at our Lenexa, Kansas site. The role involves preparing high-quality cell culture media following approved recipes, measuring accurately, and applying solid math to ensure batches meet standards.

You will operate equipment like steam kettles and autoclaves, support smooth production workflows, and perform routine media prep tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Able to weigh, measure, mix, and prepare laboratory media and reagents.
• Familiar with aseptic technique and sterile environments.
• Able to read, interpret, and follow SOPs and written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Good communication skills and reliable documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Weigh, measure, mix, and prepare laboratory media, solutions, and reagents.
• Sterilize prepared media/solutions using autoclaves.
• Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
• Ensure inventory remains stocked for all media preparation requirements and communicate inventory needs accordingly.
• Follow contamination control, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Follow laboratory quality procedures outlined in Standard Operating Procedures.
• Enter samples of prepared media and solutions to quality control for testing.
• Sweep and mop laboratories/incubators/coolers daily.
• Fill out solution records and disposition logs accurately and legibly.
• Communicate with other departments to ensure all solution/media requirements are met.
