Job summary
Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Laboratory Instrument Maintenance Technician in Texas City, TX. The role focuses on ensuring reliability and accuracy of analytical instrumentation supporting refinery laboratory operations, including maintenance, calibration, and technical support for lab instruments and systems.
You will collaborate with chemists, technicians, and vendors, perform preventive maintenance, and assist in commissioning new instruments while maintaining safety and quality
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Chemistry, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Five+ years in maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, or repairing laboratory instrumentation.
- Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, and analytical troubleshooting ability.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to meet medical, drug screening, background, and site-access requirements.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance per schedules and SOPs.
- Troubleshoot/repair laboratory instrumentation and support equipment.
- Calibrate and verify GC, titrators, distillation units, and other analyzers.
- Track instrument performance and downtime using SQC/SPC charts.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and troubleshoot guidelines for staff.
- Assist with commissioning of new instruments and technologies.
- Audit instrument software/configurations and vendor systems.
- Collaborate with chemists on method development and maintenance projects.
