Job description

The LUCOM Lab Instructor guides medical students through hands‑on simulations and clinical skill training. The lab instructor is responsible for overseeing practical sessions, assessing student performance, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and facilitate laboratory sessions focused on patient‑centered clinical skills such as medical history, physical examinations, and communication techniques.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques and procedures using equipment, high‑fidelity patient simulators and other teaching materials.
  • Monitor and supervise students during practical sessions to provide real‑time guidance and ensure safe practice.
  • Work with faculty and the course director to develop, update, and implement laboratory curricula and instructional materials.
  • Prepare lab materials, equipment, and simulation scenarios before each session.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance during labs, simulations and through grading assignments.
  • Provide students with constructive feedback on their skills and progress.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
  • MD or DO degree.
  • Teaching experience at university level.

  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply knowledge of guidelines, policies, and procedures in a variety of situations.

Work Environment

Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Pay Range

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure. The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance. $100.00 - $150.00
