Antech Diagnostics is seeking a Laboratory Technician for overnight coverage in a Sacramento-area facility. You will receive and prepare samples, run tests, interpret results, and support internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires proficiency across hematology and chemistry areas, QA within SOPs, and training across multiple lab disciplines. Associates or Bachelor's in Medical Technology (or related field) with hematology experience is required; molecular biology background is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field with 1+ year hematology experience.
• Degree or experience in Molecular Biology preferred.

Responsabilités

• Prepare samples, set up instruments, run tests, and release results.
• Perform QA and quality control per SOPs.
• Train across specimen processing, chemistry, serology, UA, coagulation, and parasitology.
• Enter and release results; support client service as needed.
• Handle hematology and UA loads and read UA slides at 45/hr.

Work Schedule: 11:30pm - 8am Monday-Saturday, With Two Scheduled Days Off Each Week. Weekend Coverage Is Required.

The Target Pay for this position is $25 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

Receives and prepares samples for laboratory analysis and tests. Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results. May perform a variety of client service activities for internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be proficient in at least three clinical areas including Hematology.
• Perform and analyze results for the Total Parasite PCR panels and other non-PCR tests as required.
• Process samples and prepare samples for send out.
• Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines.
• Train on all areas to include Specimen Processing, Chemistry, Serology, UA, Coag and Parasitology according to all SOP's.
• Oversee the entering and releasing of results.
• Responsible for the performance of tests such as Chemistry –Olympus, T4-Olympus, CBC-Advia, Progesterone, PT, PTT, Platelet count, Reticulocytes, UA and Parasitology PCR.
• Responsible for building hematology and UA loads.
• Read UA slides at a minimum rate of 45 per hour.
• In 24-hour laboratories, may also be responsible for the performance of tests such as Serology – FCV, HWAB, Accuplex, HW, and FELV, FIV-IFA, all other IFA testing as required as well as EIA and PCR testing when applicable.
• In 24-hour laboratories, may also be responsible for the performance of tests such as Parasitology - Giardia ELISA setup and testing and other miscellaneous test.
• Participate in all departmental training programs.
• Reconcile pending list.
• May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Associates/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Degree in a related field with a minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience in Hematology. Degree or experience in Molecular Biology preferred.

• Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Extensive sitting, phone, and computer use
• Capable of standing continuously for up to 2 hours
• Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers
• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
• May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.
• Heavy microscopic work
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Hearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in person
• Ability to communicate verbally on the phone and in person
• Fluency in the English language
• Extended hours may be needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present
• Use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards
