Job summary

Antech Diagnostics in Middletown, CT is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician to receive and prepare samples for analysis, set up instruments, run tests, and read and release results.

The role requires proficiency in at least three clinical areas including Hematology, with an Associates or Bachelors in Medical Technology or MLT and at least 1 year of lab experience. This position offers early morning hours and a pay rate of $20.67 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or MLT with at least 1 year of clinical lab experience.
• Must be proficient in laboratory skills and general science.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
• Set up instruments, run tests, read, interpret and release results.
• Oversee entry and release of results and quality control per QA guidelines.
• Train across areas including Specimen Processing, Chemistry, Hematology, UA and Coag per SOPs.
• Participate in departmental training and enterprise initiatives as assigned.

Shift:

P/T Monday to Friday from 6am-9am

The Target Pay for this position is $20.67 an hour.

Purpose of Job

Receives and prepares samples for laboratory analysis and tests. Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must be proficient in at least three clinical areas including Hematology.
• Process samples.
• Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines.
• Train on all areas to include Specimen Processing, Chemistry, Hematology, UA and Coag , Cytology according to all SOP’s.
• Oversee the entering and releasing of results.
• Read UA slides.
• Responsible for the performance of tests such as Chemistry, CBC, COAG, UA and Progesterone.
• Participate in all departmental training programs.
• May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or MLT Degree in related field with a minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience.

Physical Demands

• May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.
• Microscopic work
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Hearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in person
• Ability to communicate verbally on the phone and in person
• Fluency in the English language

Work Environment

• Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present
• Use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards
