Lab/Field Student Assistant – 9–Nankar

This position supports greenhouse and field activities for horticultural crop research and breeding. Duties include plant maintenance, sample collection, laboratory protocols, and general lab upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Tend to plants in greenhouse. Plant, weed, fertilize, water, pollinate, harvest, screen for disease, and collect data.
• Collect plant samples, label, flag, stake; perform data collection, pollinations, breeding crosses, and disease screening.
• Execute laboratory protocols, including nucleic acid extraction and other vegetable breeding related research.
• Maintain laboratory space and supplies: wash glassware, autoclave supplies, prepare basic solutions and media, and dispose of trash.
