Job summary

Symbotic seeks a Manager, Lab Engineering to lead its Integrated Testing Center operations within Hardware Engineering. You will own lab spaces, equipment, and the workforce that supports Reliability Engineering and System Test campaigns, driving capacity, care of tooling, and test readiness.

You will direct technicians, machinists, and contract staff, establishing processes, budgeting, and safety programs to sustain scalable testing across multiple robotics programs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of management experience and 8+ total years of work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent leadership experience.
• Experience owning an engineering lab, test facility, or fabrication operation with equipment oversight.
• Experience directly managing technicians, machinists, or fabrication staff, including scheduling and performance management.
• Experience leading both FTE and contract labor, with onboarding and retention responsibilities.
• Hands-on with test fixtures, GD&T, machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own Integrated Testing Center lab spaces including prototype and test labs, shop, and 3D print lab.
• Lead a workforce of technicians, machinists, fabrication specialists, and contractors.
• Establish centralized intake and capacity planning across resources for multiple teams.
• Deliver test hardware through fabrication of rigs, fixtures, and test articles.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, maintenance, and calibration of environmental and test equipment.
• Manage annual operating and capital plans for equipment, tooling, and facilities.
• Drive lab safety, equipment integrity, and calibration programs for scalable throughput.
