Amazon Leo is seeking a hands-on Lab Engineer to join the Avionics Test Team in Redmond, WA. You will configure lab computing systems, run design verification tests, troubleshoot avionics hardware, and help scale test environments for spaceflight hardware.

Work with cross-functional teams across spacecraft design, test, and operations. The role requires Linux experience, electronics lab exposure, soldering, RF cabling, and a disciplined approach to 5S lab organization. Export controls apply.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of electronics lab environments experience.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain lab computing systems (Windows/Ubuntu).
  • Execute design verification and qualification tests, test rack and electrical enclosure design.
  • Oversee lab spaces, implement 5S organization principles, order consumables, track assets and inventory, and coordinate logistics with shipping/receiving.
  • Troubleshoot and repair avionics circuits.
  • Read electrical schematics, interpret mechanical drawings, and install wiring for low voltage electrical and electronic devices.

Key job responsibilities

A day in the life

As an Amazon Leo Lab Engineer, you will be hands-on every day - assembling test hardware, soldering RF and electrical connectors, and keeping lab spaces clean and organized. You will set up and maintain Windows and Linux based systems, perform design verification and qualification tests and troubleshoot electrical issues.


About the team

Our team designs, tests, and delivers avionics subsystems such as the flight computer, power management and delivery, RF, and sensing subsystems on the satellite bus. Our team designs and delivers the test systems that enable qualifying and acceptance testing these hardware subsystems for the satellite. We take ownership and work hard to deliver the highest quality solutions to support the long-term success of Amazon Leo. This team consists of a broad set of technical backgrounds, and we look forward to welcoming people that are excited to help us deliver broadband internet to underserved communities!


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience

  • Experience in the Linux environment

  • 2+ years of electronics lab environments experience

  • Experience testing electronics hardware


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience testing RF or power conversion/distribution systems.

  • Experience executing design verification tests and qualification tests on avionics hardware.

  • Ability to identify issues and extend to development teams as appropriate

  • Experience constructing automated test station hardware

  • Familiar with test measurement equipment used in test campaigns, including thermal chambers.

  • Experience working with hardware and software teams for setting up testing, and troubleshooting prototype devices
