Job summary

BSI Consulting Services is hiring a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist to support the EHS department at a client site in Rockville, MD. This full-time role is located at a biopharmaceutical lab and research facility with comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities include inspections, hazard analyses, incident investigations, chemical management, training, and regulatory compliance, with occasional spill response and COVID-19 safety oversight as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific or EHS-related field is required.
• Prior consulting or EHS experience (3–5 years preferred) in lab safety/biosafety.
• Experience with risk assessment and accident investigations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Regulatory knowledge, OSHA/USA standards, and audits are important.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory inspections, document unsafe conditions, and help develop JHAs and risk assessments.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee chemical management, storage, segregation schemes, and inventories for compliance.
• Deliver lab safety training for new hires and yearly recertification.
• Support Large Quantity Generator requirements and contingency planning if waste volumes increase.
• Assist with spill response, reporting to agencies if needed, and biosafety program implementation.
• Develop or maintain EHS management systems and regulatory compliance practices.
• Monitor worker safety measures during COVID-19 and enforce safety protocols.
