Job summary

Edacious is seeking a Laboratory Director to lead day-to-day operations of our food testing analytical laboratory. This is a hands-on leadership role for a scientist who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence and operational efficiency.

You will be responsible for managing a team of analysts, maintaining our ISO 17025 accreditation, driving method development, and ensuring consistent high-quality sample throughput.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, or closely related field.
• 5+ years in a food/nutrition testing lab with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Hands-on experience with sample prep and extractions for complex matrices.
• Strong knowledge of HPLC, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, GC and method development.
• Experience with ISO 17025, audits, QA and quality management systems.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Startup or high-growth experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of analysts across multiple disciplines and methods.
• Oversee daily lab operations including scheduling, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and QC.
• Maintain ISO 17025 accreditation with audits, corrective actions and PT.
• Develop, optimize and validate analytical methods for diverse matrices.
• Manage sample preparation workflows and extractions across foods.
• Review certificates of analysis and reports before client delivery.
• Collaborate with commercial teams to meet turnaround targets.
• Identify and implement operational improvements for efficiency and quality.
• Train, hire and mentor lab technicians, chemists and scientists.
