Job summary

PerkinElmer in Richmond, VA is seeking a Lab Operations Planner to translate R&D timelines into an executable lab plan and own the demand forecast for capacity, equipment, consumables, and personnel. This role builds the master schedule to keep studies and experiments moving on time.

You will partner with scientists, lab managers and procurement, maintain ERP/LIMS data, monitor capacity, and report variances with root causes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• 3+ years in demand planning, scheduling, or lab operations planning.
• Knowledge of lab workflows and project timelines in an R&D setting.
• Experience with ERP/LIMS and scheduling tools; strong Excel/Smartsheet skills.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication and detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the demand plan for R&D lab activities.
• Build and manage the master lab schedule for experiments and equipment.
• Forecast demand for consumables and materials with procurement coordination.
• Monitor bench space and instruments to prevent bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with R&D, operations, procurement, quality, and facilities.
• Maintain planning systems with accurate, current data.
• Track schedule adherence and report variances with root causes.
• Manage schedule changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
• Support capacity planning for new studies or equipment.
• Ensure compliance and calibration considerations are accounted for.
