Job summary

Antech is seeking an Accessioner/Data Entry Specialist to support the laboratory information system by entering patient, client, and test data. The role involves preparing samples for analyses, maintaining documentation per SOPs, and coordinating with lab staff.

Schedule: 8am–4:30pm Tuesday–Saturday. Target pay rate is $17–$18 hourly. A high school diploma is required; science-related degree preferred and GLP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enter information from test requisitions into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

• Route non-matching requisitions to PI or supervisor.
• Assist with specimen storage and archiving of documents.
• Prepare and ship supplies; complete documentation per SOPs.
• Generate and send reports; support archiving of study documents.
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex tasks to learn through experience.
• Perform general administrative duties such as calls and visitor logs.

PURPOSE OF JOB

The Accessioner/Data Entry Specialist enters patient, client and test information into the Laboratory Information System. They also receive and prepare samples for laboratory analyses and tests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Entry of information from test requisition forms.
• Verify and reconcile information on test requisition with the sample information previously ordered entry.
• Properly route non-matching "problem" test requisitions to PI.
• Assists other lab personnel with specimen storage.
• Ensures documents are completed according to established SOPs.
• May sort incoming specimens for processing.
• Prepares and ships supplies, including processing related documentation.
• Performs variety of administrative duties, such as answering and routing incoming calls, maintaining visitor logs and other related activities.
• Generate and send reports.
• Assists with archiving of study related documentaion.
• Completes all documentation in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (21CFR Part 58) Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology, specimen processing procedures and equipment helpful.
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex tasks to learn through experience.
• Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.
• Basic skills with moderate level of proficiency.
• Applies job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent, 2- or 4-year degree in science related field preferred.
• Laboratory and or GLP experience a plus

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Laboratory skills, with experience helpful General science background, including hematology/chemistry helpful

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Extensive sitting, and computer use Heavy keyboarding and manual dexterity Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Hearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in person
• Ability to communicate verbally on the phone and in person
• Fluency in the English language Extended hours may be needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE.
• Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.
• Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
• A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision.
