Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time courier/transport technician for the Laboratory Medicine department. The role involves driving NCH vehicles for courier routes and handling routine and on-demand pickups and deliveries to labs, pharmacies, homecare, and clinics.

The position requires a valid Ohio driver’s license, auto insurance, and successful completion of background and driving qualifications. Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy are necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy.
• Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintains schedule to complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
• Handles pick-ups and deliveries from lab, pharmacy, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices and outpatient centers.
• Documents all route information and pick-ups per department guidelines.
• Evaluates and monitors weather conditions throughout shift to preplan for anticipated trips and delays.
• Maintains safety of cargo and vehicle in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assists in training of new staff and documents their progress per department guidelines.
• Provides customer service in an efficient and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and quality patient care.
