Job summary

Norman Regional Health System's Laboratory Outreach Service is seeking a patient-focused Phlebotomy Technician to join a high-volume, team-driven setting. You will perform admission interviews, collect specimens, and ensure insurance requirements are met during registration, while supporting a fast-paced lab environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 3 months of customer service and phlebotomy experience, and a valid BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred (3 months) or a Clinical Phlebotomy certificate.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with word processing.
• Current BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs admission interview process at lab outreach centers or uses client information at collection/pickup.
• Ensures Medicare, insurance and managed care requirements are met prior to registration.
• Responds to inquiries regarding patients.
• Obtains blood specimens (on or off site) following established procedures and safety rules.
• Obtains specimens with special collection procedures as needed.
• Performs diagnostic ECG on outpatients and INR QC/testing procedures.
• Urine collection and processing.
• Specimen collections beyond blood or urine as required.
• Assists in the laboratory area and acts as a resources for lab information.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and Medicare requirements.
• Orders and maintains supplies at PAR level.
• Upholds proper phone etiquette.
