Job summary

Phillips 66 is seeking a Specialist I, Lab Chemist in Texas to ensure laboratory products, services, and processes meet quality and regulatory standards. You will work with partners to evaluate results, strengthen procedures, and support reliable, compliant performance.

You will perform QA tests, analyze results, and contribute to continuous improvement while developing and delivering technical training and guidelines for internal use. Strong safety practices and PPE adherence are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
• 1+ years of experience in laboratory testing.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Willing and able to operate a company vehicle on-site or on public roads up to 5%.
• Work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays and perform occasional duties.
• Transport articles up to 50 pounds.
• Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet.
• Work safely around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat; wear PPE and maintain respirator seal.

Responsibilities

• Perform a defined range of complex laboratory quality assurance tests, interpret results, and identify corrective actions to confirm specifications and conformance.
• Plan and coordinate testing and inspections for laboratory processes and activities, monitor results, and follow through on corrective actions and continuous improvement work.
• Design and execute activities that generate evidence for validating new and existing quality assurance test methods and procedures.
• Collect, analyze, and report quality data to identify trends, monitor defect rates, evaluate process effectiveness, and support decisions.
• Develop, test, and maintain procedures, guidelines, and quality documentation supporting internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Identify and escalate noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or codes of conduct; track actions through to completion.
• Develop and deliver technical training using established content, and create learning materials when gaps in methods, tools, or programs are identified.
• Partner across professional teams to resolve quality issues, share information, provide technical guidance, and maintain trusted working relationships.
