Job summary

Ginkgo Bioworks in Emeryville is seeking a Software Graduate Intern to contribute to the Catalyst software stack that orchestrates automated lab work. You will write Python protocols to control hardware, and help build data pipelines for AI training while supporting lab automation and experimentation.

The role requires strong Python skills, a recent CS/biomedical engineering graduate or current student, and on-site work five days a week in Emeryville.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate (BS or MS) or current student in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Able to work on site in Emeryville five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Write Python-based protocols that control liquid handlers, plate readers and robotic arms.
• Contribute to Catalyst Agent, the LLM interface for launching experiments in natural language.
• Build data pipelines that structure experimental output for AI training.
• Write drivers for new lab instruments.
