Job summary

UPSIDE Foods, based in Emeryville, CA, seeks an AI Intern to advance our Enterprise Intelligence portfolio, enabling high-throughput workflows and AI-driven lab automation. You will partner with data scientists and IT/software developers to deploy applications across R&D and manufacturing.

The internship involves end-to-end deployment, stakeholder design, and delivering two or more applications by its sixteen-week duration, with on-site work 2+ days per week near Berkeley.

Qualifications

Ownership of projects and cross-functional collaboration.
Hands-on with scientific instrumentation and molecular cloning workflows.
Experience with bioprocessing and cell biology concepts.
Nice to have: AI coding experience using Claude Code.
Must be on-site 2+ days a week near Berkeley, CA.
Startup mindset with stakeholder requirements translated into MVPs.
Pursuing Masters/Bachelor in Biotechnology or related field.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders to design lab automation workflows to increase value.
Use AI programming tools to develop high-throughput workflows.
Integrate solutions with organizational tools and data sources.
Coordinate with IT and Data Platform Engineering for infrastructure.
Work 20 hrs/wk concurrently with school.
