Job summary

BJC Medical Group in Farmington, Missouri is seeking a full-time Lab Associate II to perform specimen collection, handling and clerical duties. Experienced in phlebotomy and proficient in central processing, in-office phlebotomy or inventory management.

Responsibilities include interpreting physician orders, performing phlebotomy with proper patient identification, sorting and processing specimens, and assisting with registration and other lab tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of supervisor experience.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Phlebotomy certifications.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician orders and order tests in appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy with proper patient identification and specimen integrity; may work in outpatient lab, physician office, or off-campus center.
• Sort and process specimens received by the lab and handle all specimens.
• Coordinate a series of tasks including STAT orders and workload fluctuations; prioritize to meet timelines.
• May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

Role Purpose

Perform specimen collection, specimen handling and clerical duties. Experienced in phlebotomy and proficient in performing additional tasks such as central processing duties, in-office phlebotomy, or inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician orders and order tests in appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity. May work in outpatient lab, in physician office, or off campus patient service center.
• Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory and proficiently handle all specimens received in the lab.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
