Summary
This position is responsible for the receipt of biological specimens into the department, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and performing testing. This position reports to the department supervisor and works closely with lab technical personnel.

Essential Functions
Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors, and staff.
Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
Supports safety and confidentiality policies of TMCH.
Performs technical processes based on department requirements, including testing under supervision.
Logs specimens into laboratory and LIS, labels samples, and manages storage or disposal.
Coordinates and tracks specimens within the laboratory.
Uses department computer systems to generate work lists.
Performs basic maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Follows safety procedures for handling hazardous substances.
Participates in quality control, safety, and maintenance programs.
Ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards.
Performs related duties to meet turnaround times.

TMC Rincon
In addition to the above, Laboratory Assistants at TMC Rincon will also perform Phlebotomy duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One month of related lab experience.
Licensure or Certification: None required.
