Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join the team at Ascension St Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. The role involves receiving and sorting clinical lab specimens, preparing samples for testing, data entry, and maintaining safe, compliant work processes. The schedule is 1st shift, 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., weekdays with every other weekend rotation. High school diploma and 6 months in medical/clinical setting required; hospital lab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months or more medical or clinical industry work experience required.
• Comfortability with handling biological specimens; ability to identify specimens.
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet turnaround times.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods; color blindness test passed.
• Overtime flexibility as needed.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
