Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Lab Assistant Specialist I to ensure proper handling of specimens in clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories and to prepare samples for testing.

Responsibilities include data entry, accessioning, and processing tasks such as centrifugation and slide preparation, with additional duties in registration and billing as needed. Training under supervision will be provided to perform complex duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in clinical or anatomic pathology labs preferred.
• Ability to perform data entry and accessioning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Handle specimens in clinical and anatomic pathology labs.
• Perform accessioning of orders and data entry.
• Prepare specimens for testing and shipping to referral labs.
• Assist on patient care procedures and aseptic sample handling.
• Troubleshoot sample/order issues and monitor pending logs.
