Lab Assistant (Referral Representative I) - Tucker, GA, Tuesday, Thursday to Saturday, 1:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Pay range: $17.75+ per hour. Shift differential: 10% on second shift, 15% on third shift. Additional details will be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers are based on skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
- Retrieve, sort, and process specimens for shipment to referral laboratories.
- Ensure sample quality and accuracy; identify problems with specimen types, missing information, incorrect temperature, insufficient quantity, etc.
- Prepare specimens and packages for shipment ensuring compliance with IATA regulations.
- File departmental documents.
- Handle customer inquiries regarding reporting of results, service failures, and other quality issues to provide customer satisfaction.
- Report laboratory results using established protocols.
- Contact clients to resolve routine or medical/technical matters related to patient testing and result reporting.
- Investigate and resolve complex referral testing issues.
- Research test availability and select referral vendor using established protocol.
- Assist Client Services, Customers, and Sales by answering questions and responding to concerns promptly.
- Communicate tests not performed (TNP's) and lab accidents to clients within 24 hours; document thoroughly and elevate issues to supervisor.
- Identify and report quality incidents to supervisors.
- Maintain work area in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and/or work‑practice controls as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required work experience: Minimum 1–2 years clinical laboratory experience.
Preferred work experience: Customer service and/or medical background.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- May require lifting: 1–10 lb frequently; 11–25 lb occasionally; 36–50 lb seldom; >50 lb not without assistance.
- May need to stand and work at bench for long periods.
- Frequent walking and/or standing.
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of Client Services and Specimen Processing operations.
- Thorough understanding of referral testing.
- Basic medical terminology applicable to clinical laboratory.
Skills
- Detail‑oriented; ability to work independently, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong independent problem‑solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills for courteous communication with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.
- Telephone communication skills with clients and vendors.
- Ability to handle patient and client information confidentially.
- Good data entry skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and laboratory information systems.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
