Job summary

Washington Regional Medical System in Fayetteville, AR is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support Medical Laboratory Technicians and Scientists under supervision of the Laboratory Director.

You will verify patient and specimen data, process specimens, assist with phlebotomy, and help maintain a clean, safe working environment while meeting turnaround-time goals.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, and preferred certifications in Laboratory Assistant and Phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification as Laboratory Assistant preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represents the laboratory as a model of the behavioral standards of the institution; supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization; promotes a respectful work environment.
• Verifies accuracy of patient and specimen information 100% of the time.
• Examines specimens for adequacy and appropriateness.
• Properly labels specimens and prepares aliquots with 100% patient/specimen identification.
• Receives and processes specimens quickly to ensure established turn-around-time goals are met.
• Assists with inquiries pertaining to specimen requirements, specimen stability, and test turn-around-times.
• Assists with phlebotomy as needed.
• Assists with send out specimen processing.
• Assist point of care team as needed.
• Maintaining a clean working environment and sanitizing benchtops and equipment.
