Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking a Core Laboratory support professional in Hoke Hospital to perform specimen processing, phlebotomy and non‑technical duties. You will register patients, collect samples, prepare slides, load instruments and report results in a fast‑paced lab environment.

The role covers waived and point‑of‑care testing, with emphasis on accuracy, turnaround times and teamwork across the laboratory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of full‑time specimen processing, phlebotomy or equivalent experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy tasks when applicable at job site.
• Accurately receives and logs in specimens.
• Performs processing tasks accurately from receipt to delivery for analysis.
• Communicates with other departments effectively.
• Performs clerical duties efficiently.
• Performs set‑up and misc. micro duties when applicable at job site.
• Performs loading and misc. core lab duties.
• Performs maintenance tasks on automated line as required.
• Follows established laboratory policies, safety and disposal guidelines.
