Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support patient care through specimen collection, proper specimen handling, and point-of-care testing. You will ensure quality control, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to CAP/CLIA standards in a fast-paced lab environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of the OSF Phlebotomy class within 6 months or prior phlebotomy experience, and strong EMR/Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• OSF Phlebotomy class completion within 6 months of hire or prior phlebotomy experience.
• Preferred phlebotomy experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection and proper storage of specimens.
• Prepare specimens for transport and perform point-of-care testing and CLIA/CAP-compliant quality testing.
• Review orders and maintain accurate records including quality control and temperature monitoring.
• Maintain patient identification and provide excellent customer service.
