Job summary

OSF HealthCare in Illinois is seeking a Phlebotomist I to obtain blood and other specimens according to established policies and procedures from any location where patients may be present for laboratory testing. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture and skin punctures according to established aseptic techniques.

This is an hourly position requiring careful teamwork in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft software.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood and other specimens according to policies.
• Label specimens and transport to laboratory for analysis.
• Verify patient identification and prepare specimens for testing.
• Maintain professional relationships with patients, staff, and physicians.
