Job summary

Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our clinical team. You will support tissue processing, specimen handling and staining equipment maintenance, with emphasis on accuracy, safety and compliance with procedures.

You must have a high school diploma (Bachelor’s in a chemical or biological science preferred); lifting up to 20 lbs and stairs are part of the job.

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Working knowledge of office equipment.
• Must adhere to all department protocols and procedures.
• Must be reliable, dependable and have an excellent attendance history.

Responsibilities

• Change, load, rotate, clean and maintain processors.
• Change, load, rotate, clean and maintain staining instrumentation.
• Change, load, and maintain coverslipper.
• Compare slides to blocks to ensure case numbers are correct and tissue matches.
• Compare slides to requisition forms to ensure case numbers are correct and tissue matches.
• Restock supplies as needed.
• Dispose of hazardous waste according to procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
