Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Lab Assistant in Phoenix, AZ to support routine specimen processing and testing. The role requires handling of biological materials, accurate data entry, and strict adherence to safety protocols. Overtime may be required; schedule: Tue–Sat, 10:00 pm–6:30 am.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; preferred candidates have 1+ year in lab or manufacturing environments and familiarity with LIS and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prefer 1+ years in assembly or production environments.
• Experience in clinical or diagnostic lab settings is a plus.
• Familiarity with LIS and specimen handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
• Ensure lab equipment is functioning and perform minor maintenance.
• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues and replenish supplies.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and logs.
• Follow SOPs to ensure safety and quality standards.

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 pm - 6:30 am. Required overtime as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualification:

• One or more years of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment
• One or more years of experience in a clinical, hospital, reference, or diagnostic laboratory setting,
• One or more years of experience in specimen processing, accessioning, or sample handling
• One or more years of knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and quality standards
• One or more years of experience in handling blood, urine, tissue, or other biological specimens
• One or more years of experience using laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic medical record systems

Additional Job Standards:

• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Able to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Able to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Able pass a standardized color blindness test
