Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our Phoenix, AZ team on a per diem/PRN basis. Shifts start between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM and are scheduled as needed to support patient care and lab operations.

You will receive and sort clinical lab specimens, prepare samples for testing, perform data entry, maintain equipment, and help maintain a safe, compliant workspace while following SOPs. Prior lab or production experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 1+ years in assembly/manufacturing production.
• Preferred: 1+ years in a diagnostics/clinical lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.

Hours will be scheduled as needed, with start and end times varying based on business needs. Shift may begin at any time between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualification

• One or more years of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment
• One or more years of experience in a diagnosticsl/clinical lab environment

• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Able to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Able to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Able pass a standardized color blindness test
