Job summary

Grays Harbor College is seeking a part-time Lab Assistant to support Microbiology, Anatomy, Biology and Chemistry labs on campus. The role involves creating media and reagents, replenishing equipment, bringing in supplies, and preparing nonhazardous solutions under supervision.

The assistant will help with setup and breakdown of labs, maintain specimens, and ensure safety protocols are followed while working with instructors and students in teaching segments.

Qualifications

• Lab experience in Microbiology, Biology and/or Chemistry preferred or enrollment in related classes.
• Knowledge or ability to learn autoclave operation and media weighing.
• Able to learn to prepare media and read recipe instructions.
• Able to follow instructions accurately and ask questions if needed.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to manage time and follow lab teaching schedules.
• understands and follow all safety protocols.
• Math 97 or above.

Responsibilities

• Create media and reagents for the Microbiology lab following specific instructions.
• Replenish lab tables with needed equipment.
• Bring in and put away supplies.
• Prepare nonhazardous solutions.
• Assist supervisor/instructor as needed.
• Set up and breakdown of Chemistry labs following specific instructions.
• Maintain plants and animals.
• Handle preserved specimens.
