Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Laboratory Assistant 2 - Float to collect blood specimens, perform waived tests, and report results under supervision. The role includes patient interaction, specimen processing, and data entry to support timely laboratory operations.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, some phlebotomy or medical assisting experience, and be able to perform duties within established safety and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in phlebotomy, medical assistant, or related medical program preferred.
• Within 3 months of employment, able to perform as lab assistant.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
• Identify patient, label specimens per policy.
• Communicate with patient and family to ensure safety.
• Perform waived lab tests per SOPs.
• Register test data entry and ensure accurate results.
