Job summary

Quest Diagnostics seeks a Lab Assistant II for Marlborough, MA (9:30 PM–6:00 AM, Mon–Fri). The role extends responsibilities of the Pre-Analytical Assistant I/II with advanced tasks in Specimen Processing and Tech Ops.

Responsibilities include problem solving, documentation, load building, and ensuring quality and productivity standards within six months of training. Experience in a clinical lab and basic Windows skills are preferred.

Qualifications

  • One year experience in a laboratory environment or a production setting.
  • Must have familiarity with personal computers, basic Windows-based software
  • good typing skills
  • Medical background terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory

Responsibilities

  • All responsibilities of the Pre-Analytical Assistant I and II; meets or exceeds productivity and quality standards for Pre-Analytical Assistant I.
  • Solve more complex problems on a routine basis.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of how Specimen Processing and Tech Ops impact testing departments and result quality.
  • Identifies problems with specimen types vs test orders, missing information, improperly positioned bar code labels, etc. with regard to load building, aliquoting, and test add processing.
  • Understands the complex relationship between test(s) ordered and specimens received with load building to correct departments.
  • Completes all required written documentation such that it is understandable to others, legible and within the assigned time frame.
  • Mets quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
  • Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to ensure cross-functional support.
  • Adheres to all Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures, including safety and compliance.
  • Presents all other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering, which requires developing the ability to research test ordering information on translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services.
  • And sorts, racks, picks up and delivers specimens to the laboratory, specimen storage, operates centrifuge, aliquots.

Lab Assistant II - Marlborough, MA, Monday to Friday, 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM

The Pre-Analytical Assistant II in the Tech Ops Department is responsible for knowing all of the functions of the Pre-Analytical Assistant I, plus additional functions.

Pay range: $21.09 - $23.09 / hour;

employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.
