The Hospitals of Providence - East Campus Hospital in El Paso, TX seeks a Laboratory Assistant II to perform routine lab tasks, venipuncture, specimen receipt, and distribution. Role includes CLIA-waived tests and support for microbiology processes within a collaborative healthcare setting.

Requires a high school diploma; phlebotomy program and 1 year lab experience preferred; state-certified phlebotomy is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy program preferred.

• Phlebotomy certification as required by state law; national certs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine technical and clerical functions including specimen registration and billing.
• Receives specimens and distributes laboratory specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned.
• Performs waived testing and assists in microbiology processing and plating as requested.

Education

• Preferred: Completion of a phlebotomy program

Experience

• Required: 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program
• Preferred: In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience

Certifications

• Required: Phlebotomy certification where State law requires
• Preferred: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
