Job summary

The Hospitals of Providence - Trans Mountain Campus in El Paso is seeking a full-time phlebotomist to join our clinical laboratory team. You will perform venipuncture, specimen receipt, and distribution of specimens, while maintaining accuracy and patient care at the forefront.

The role includes waived testing, specimen processing, and collaboration with microbiology as needed, with a focus on quality and efficiency in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
• Preferred: completion of phlebotomy training program.
• Phlebotomy certification where state law requires

Responsibilities

• Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing.
• Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Phlebotomy duties and waived testing; assists in microbiology processing and plating specimens as requested.

• Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned. Will perform waived testing, and assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Completion of a phlebotomy program
Experience:

Required: 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program
Preferred: In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience

Certifications:

Required: Phlebotomy certification where State law requires
Preferred: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
