Job summary

The Hospitals of Providence - East Campus Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II for dayshift per diem work. You will perform routine venipuncture, specimen receipt, distribution, and run CLIA-waived tests under supervision.

Responsibilities include specimen registration, billing support, and aiding microbiology processing. Required: high school diploma and phlebotomy certification; 1 year lab experience or phlebotomy training; preferred LIS experience and completion of phlebotomy

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy program completion preferred.
• 1 year laboratory experience or completion of a phlebotomy training program required.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen receipt.
• Distribute laboratory specimens and perform waived testing.
• Assist in phlebotomy duties and microbiology processing as assigned.
• Handle specimen registration and billing support.

The Laboratory Assistant II performs routine technical and clerical functions. Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing.
• Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned.
• Will perform waived testing, and assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.

Qualifications

Education:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Completion of a phlebotomy program

Experience:

• Required: 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program
• Preferred: In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience

Certifications:

• Required: Phlebotomy certification where State law requires

• Preferred: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
