Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide specimen collection, order entry, and pre-analytic processing in a full-time daytime role. The selected candidate will handle clerical tasks, ensure accurate patient and specimen registration, and support lab operations with compassionate service.

Requires HS diploma and formal phlebotomy training; Indiana licensing may be preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or coursework in biology/related science preferred.
• May require Indiana Operator's license and clean driving record in last 3 years.
• Must understand traffic laws in Indiana.
• Requires basic computer skills and ability to enter data.
• Must have good telephone and interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Collect venipuncture specimens and perform routine pre-analytic processing.
• Enter orders and manage clerical tasks (phone, faxes).
• Perform patient and specimen registration and delivery as needed.
• Support laboratory operations with accurate documentation and customer service.

The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

SHIFT:

Full-Time Days, Float

HOURS:

Hours vary anytime between 0630-1730. Monday-Friday. No weekends. No holidays.

Locations: Indy Metro Area

The Phlebotomist p rovides general laboratory services including specimen collection using routine venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens as well as related clerical tasks such as entering orders into the system, answering phone calls, and managing faxes. The incumbent may be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. The ideal incumbent will possess strong customer service skills and be highly compassionate.

• Requires HS grad or GED Equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred.
• May require a valid Indiana Operators license and a good driving history for the last three years.
• May require an understanding of the traffic laws in the State of Indiana.
• Requires proven understanding of computers.
• Requires telephone skills.
• Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
• Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
• May serve on appropriate committees or projects that contribute to the overall purpose and essential functions of the department. Position overview and requirements to be added by Consultants.
