Job summary

Labcorp in Brentwood, TN is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our clinical laboratory team. You will receive and sort clinical lab specimens, prepare them for testing, and ensure accurate data entry of specimen and patient information in our LIS.

You will also help maintain lab equipment, troubleshoot issues, replenish supplies, and keep a clean, safe work environment while following SOPs to meet quality and turnaround targets. This role requires a high school diploma and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Experience handling clinical specimens is preferred.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
  • Ensure lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot any specimen related issues.
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
  • Follow all SOPs to ensure safety and quality standards.

LabCorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team at our facility in Brentwood, TN.

Work Schedule:

Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
  • Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
  • 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
Additional Job Standards
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
