Job Responsibilities
  • Perform venipunctures and finger sticks accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper specimen collection and patient safety.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and accept specimens and requisitions from customers with excellent customer service skills.
  • Identify patients and specimens using two unique identifiers and label specimens correctly.
  • Register and log specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), ensuring specimen adequacy and acceptability.
  • Perform specimen processing such as aliquoting, plate streaking, slide preparation, and proper documentation.
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols, including handling chemicals safely.
  • Meet workload productivity standards and support LEAN principles.
  • Use laboratory information systems and computers proficiently.
  • Participate in peer teaching and handle laboratory communications professionally.
  • Monitor and document temperature ranges for specimens as required.
General Requirements
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory experience preferred.
  • Computer skills required.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
