Job summary

La Familia Medical Center in Santa Fe, NM seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support physicians and staff with laboratories, phlebotomy, and specimen processing. The role entails handling requests, maintaining logs, and ensuring timely reporting of results.

Under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor, you will perform waived lab testing, collect specimens, and help maintain equipment while contributing to a patient-centered care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with graduation from a technical school in Laboratory Assistant/Aide or equivalent.
• Six months related experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and training.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory operations with quality control to support diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintains logs, inventories, and distributes laboratory supplies and equipment.
• Performs venipuncture and phlebotomy; records results in patient records.
• Receives and logs laboratory requests; matches results with requests and maintains audit logs.
• Performs routine maintenance on analyzers and equipment and troubleshoots issues.
• Calls patients to schedule blood draws and follow-up testing as needed.
